Dom Ambroise PELLETIER (1703-1758), benedictine monk born in 1703 in Porcieux (Lorraine, France), had started to publish the “Nobiliary or Armorial general of Lorraine and Barrois” in the middle of the 18th century. Unfortunately, it irritated against him the minor nobility of Lorraine by sheding light on the origins of certain families. A legend tells that he was so much pummeled by one of the ennobled quoted in his work that he died about it.
